Works at Loch Sport Marina Jetty and Shoreline Area adjacent to Seagull Drive Board Ramp

News

Gippsland Ports will be undertaking works at the Loch Sport Marina Public Jetty, and shoreline area next to the Seagull Drive Boat Ramp, in April and May 2025

Sand Excavation and Re-Use Works

The Loch Sport Marina Jetty has been impacted by a significant build-up of sandy sediment.

Works to remove this sand using mechanical excavation will commence from Monday 28 April.

Excavated material will be transported and placed along the shoreline near the Seagull Drive Boat Ramp car park.

The reuse of material excavated from Loch Sport Marina Jetty at the Seagull Drive site will mitigate erosion impacts along this section of shoreline.

From early May 2025 for a period of approximately 1-month, the Seagull Drive Boat Ramp and car park will be subject to temporary closure. Signage on-site will provide further specific information. Recreational boaters are encouraged to use alternative facilities at Charlies Street.

The beneficial reuse of excavated sand to mitigate erosion adjacent to the Seagull Drive Boat Ramp and car park is supported by funding provided the Victorian Government Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action.

Other Jetty Works

Prior to sand excavation works at Loch Sport Marina Public Jetty, Gippsland Ports will be on-site installing new screening on the west side of the Jetty. These works will also include installation of new jetty decking.

New jetty screening will assist in mitigating future shoaling of the inner jetty berths and marina approach channel.

Works to the jetty will commence from Friday 4 April and public access will be restricted from this time. Broader disruption will be limited.
