DETAILS: Mariners are advised that changes have been made to the Mallacoota Navigation Aids upstream of the entrance to the Narrows. These changes were required to increase the reliability of the solar powered navigation lights which were previously located in areas subject to shade, thus reducing the effectiveness and reliability of the solar charging systems.
The changes include the withdrawal of two land-based beacons and the establishment of three lit, lateral Buoys as follows;
The following land-based beacons have been withdrawn from service:
Snapper Point Light – Fl.WG.5s   37° 31.658′ S   149° 44.568′ E
Top Lake No.7 – Fl.WR.3s   37° 31.114′ S   149° 43.933′   E Datum WGS 84
The following lit lateral buoys have been established:
The Narrows No.1 – Fl.G.3s   37° 31.69′ S   149° 44.592′ E
The Narrows No.3 – Fl.G.3s   37° 31.296′ S   149° 43.913′   E Datum WGS 84
Quambie Point Light Buoy – Fl.R.2.5s   37° 30.889′ S   149° 43.71′   E Datum WGS84
