Port of Gippsland Lakes
Location: Lake King & Mitchell River

DETAILS:Â Â Mariners are advised that large trees and other flood debris caused by recent heavy rainfall has been observed floating in Lake King and the Mitchell River and is causing a potential hazard to navigation in places.
Gippsland Ports has been actively removing trees and debris from the Lake and River over the last three weeks, however some debris has found its way downstream into the river mouth and Lake King.
Mariners are advised to navigate with extra precaution within the Mitchell River and Lake King areas and to avoid night navigation. The Mitchell River is restricted to a Speed Limit of 5 knots and this limit should be stringently adhered to.
Mariner are also advised to report any sightings of large trees or debris in the Gippsland Lakes or adjoining rivers to Gippsland Ports by phoning 0351 500 500.
