LNW No. 2(T) of 2024
GIPPSLAND PORTS LOCAL NAVIGATION WARNING
PORT OF GIPPSLAND LAKES – VICINITY OF LAKES ENTRANCE BAR
MISSING DREDGE PIPES
DATE:
Tuesday 4th June 2024
PREVIOUS NOTICE:
N/A
DETAILS:
Recent heavy seas have resulted in two lengths of high density, black plastic dredge pipe, approx. 320mm diameter being washed off the beach and into the ocean in the vicinity of Lakes Entrance Bar.
The pipes were stored on the beach, above the high-water mark, approximately 1km East of the Lakes Entrance Bar, ready for use on the Eastern Outfall repairs, however very heavy seas resulting from the recent East Coast Low dislodged two pipes from the anchors.
Gippsland Ports are currently searching for the 2 lengths of pipe which are approximately 4 meters long. The pipes are buoyant and float with part of the pipe visible above the water surface.
Mariners are advised to navigate with extra precaution in the vicinity of the Lakes Entrance Bar.
If a pipe is sighted, mariners are requested to contact Gippsland Ports immediately by phone on (03) 51 500 500.
FURTHER NOTICE:
A further notice shall be issued.
