Gippsland Ports has recently completed the first stage of CCTV surveillance camera installation at a number of public berthing facilities on the Gippsland Lakes.

As the demand for itinerant public berthing continues to grow, Gippsland Ports Maritime Services is seeking to ensure that all boaters have fair and reasonable access to public wharves and jetty facilities throughout the Gippsland Lakes. The new cameras will help to ensure that set aside time limits can be effectively monitored and enforced at public jetties and wharves.

In addition to providing an efficient management tool, the cameras will also encourage positive public behaviour and allow Gippsland Ports to monitor the safe and effective use of its public wharves and jetties.

Gippsland Ports acting CEO, Greg Hatt said “we are very pleased to be able to take the next step in promoting fair access to public facilities and further contribute to the attraction of the Gippsland Lakes as a boating tourism destination.”

To ensure everyone gets a chance to use them, all public wharves and jetties have specific time limits.
