Notices to Mariners
Mariners are advised that Natural environmental conditions have created a second Ocean Entrance to the East of the existing Shoal Inlet Entrance.
The second entrance may change its position over time and is not considered navigable by vessels. A sand island has been created between the second entrance and the existing Shoal Inlet entrance. Offshore wave action may change the shape of the island or entrances over time or even close off one of the entrances.
Mariners are advised not to attempt ocean access through the Shoal Inlet Entrances. The Shoal Inlet Waterway is tidal, and Mariners are warned of the presence of strong ebb tides near the entrances. The areas affected are the Manns Channel and Boat Harbour Channel.
The attached Satellite Image of the Shoal Inlet Entrances was taken on 10th September 2026. The entrances and sand island are expected to change in shape and position over time.
