DETAILS:  Recently, Gippsland Ports has received several enquiries regarding the depth of the channel at the Northern approach to Paynesville Canals from Lake King.

Mariners are reminded that the Port and Starboard Lateral Beacons are aids to navigation only and that care must be taken whilst navigating through any channel as the least available depth may not be suitable for your vessel.

Gippsland Ports have conducted multibeam surveys of the area and the most recent survey is available on Gippsland Ports website at: Bathymetric Surveys – Gippsland Ports
Mariners are advised to navigate with caution through the area, particularly when passing another vessel in a narrow channel.

East Gippsland Shire, as the agency responsible, are investigating the possibility of dredging the channel.
